My name is Oisin McCoy and I'm a graduate of Queen's University Belfast, with a degree in BA Broadcast Production.
I am passionate about sports and sports broadcasting, and have aspirations of working in this industry. I want to create unique and diverse content that will excite, educate and emotionally engage audiences.
I was humbled to be part of a team that won the award for best factual documentary at the 2023 Royal Television Society NI Student Awards.
My degree pathway has allowed me to develop a wide range of practical and technical skills including:
-Audio and video editing
-Directing, producing and idea generation
-Camera operating
-Scripting for documentary & Live TV
-Structuring for documentary & Live TV (3 act structure etc.)
-Logging Rushes
-Formulating run plans and call sheets for on location shoots (TV, radio and podcast).
-Key journalism skills including training in standards and ethics
These skills were further developed in a real world setting through a placement with a Northern Ireland production company. I had the opportunity to work on a variety of factual programming for which I received official credits on two separate BBC and RTE programmes.
